Course Details
Our CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course (HSA) is CITB accredited and delivered by our in-house qualified and experienced course instructors.
This one day health and safety course is designed to teach individuals the health and safety requirements when working on a construction site and highlight their responsibilities and legal duties.
Successfully completing a level 1 health and safety awareness course is a major step towards obtaining the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Green Labourer card which is a requirement for labourers/operatives on the vast majority of construction sites within the UK.
If you want to work in construction, you are going to need a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Green Labourer’s card providing assurance that you have acquired the necessary level of knowledge to operate safely on a construction site. Whilst it is not a legal requirement to hold a CSCS card many construction site employers require their employees and sub-contractors to hold valid CSCS Cards. It demonstrates that individuals have undertaken appropriate training and assists in demonstrating compliance with health and safety regulations.
At the end of the course you will have an understanding of:
-
Health and Safety legislation
-
The prevention of accidents
-
Risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
-
Operating in a safe manner and seeking support/advice
-
Your role (in regard to safety) on a construction site
-
Recognising and reporting unsafe acts
The course concludes with a post theory test consisting of 25 multiple choice questions. Pass mark is 80%. There are 3 safety critical questions within the paper which have to be answered correctly in order to pass successfully.
On successful completion of the above courses you will be awarded with a certificate the CITB: HSA Certificate is valid for a period of 5 years, the E-Learning Certificate is a lifetime award.
You will receive your certificate approximately ten days after successful course completion and you will need to retain the certificate in order to apply for your CSCS Labourer (Green) Card.
For all SSP courses the default delivery method for certificates will now be digital, meaning hard copy certificates will not be sent.
On successful completion the CITB: Health, Safety and Environment Test you will then be in a position to apply for your CSCS Labourer (Green) Card
