Course Details
This course is for you if you are involved in the tunnel construction industry as a member of the workforce, to help you understand a variety of different health and safety aspects of the industry, the associated working environment and some of the potential hazards you may face working on a tunnelling site.
The development of this course was an industry led solution supported by CITB, TunnelSkills and the British Tunnelling Society (BTS). From concept through to delivery, contractors, clients and providers have been consulted, often with direct input into development.
This one day course covers the following topic areas:
- Entry into a tunnel environment
- Surface works and shafts
- Tunnel construction
- Tunnelling plant and equipment
- Control of underground plant during tunnelling operations
- Emergency arrangements
- Occupational Health
Assessment will be by multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course. Delegates will also be expected to be interactive during the course.
Successful delegates will be issued with a certificate which has a three-year life. It is the responsibility of the delegate to ensure they register to do another course to renew their certificate. Certificates with expired dates will be null and void.
