A40 - SLINGER/SIGNALLER 3 days leading to CPCS Red Card
The role of the slinger/signaller is to work alongside the lifting team ensuring the safe movement of loads.
Course Description
The course and assessment covers:
- Loads of various weights and sizes to be moved.
- Pre use checks on all lifting accessories.
- Role and responsibilities of a Signaller.
- Understanding signals and communication with the crane operator.
- Ensuring the certification for all lifting accessories are valid.
- Clear and precise signals for moving a load.
- Choosing the relevant lifting accessories for a given load.
- Follow relevant regulations and legislation.
You will be required to take two assessments, a practical test, and a theory test. Both exams are usually completed on the same day.
Once you have completed the Slinger/ Signaller course training and passed the assessments you will receive a certification of your competence from the construction scheme that accredits the course CPCS.
Trained Operator Card (RED)
The CPCS Red Card, also known as the Trained Operator Card, is a card provided by the CPCS for those that are at the initial stage of their career in plant operation. This card verifies the core skills and knowledge to work in their chosen field (under supervision) while they complete the applicable SVQ or NVQ or other relevant vocational qualifications.
Once you've received your Red CPCS Trained Operator Card, it will last for 2 years. During these 2 years, you must work towards and achieve your NVQ in Plant Operations to upgrade to a Blue CPCS Competence Card.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ
You will need bring hard hat, hi vis, boots and gloves as a minimum for the practical training day and the practical test. No boots allowed in the canteen, offices or classrooms so please to bring a change of footwear for these areas.
You will also need Photo ID on the day of the test - this cannot be a photo on their phone, we have to have the official ID in our hands. Failure to bring this with them will result in the test being cancelled, but you still being charged.
We have tea and coffee making facilities, as well as a fridge and microwave We don't supply lunch, s. We advise to bring your own lunch , or there is a shop about a 5 minute drive away.
